Avenida 4 de Fevereiro, widely known as the Marginal de Luanda, is the most iconic waterfront boulevard in the capital city. Stretching along the beautiful Luanda Bay, this sweeping avenue is named in honor of the February 4, 1961 uprising that marked the beginning of the armed struggle for national independence. The boulevard underwent a massive modernization and expansion project that was officially completed in 2012, transforming it into a vibrant public space with wide pedestrian walkways, green parks, and scenic view points. Today, the avenue beautifully showcases the contrast of modern Luanda, lined with towering corporate skyscrapers on one side and the historic waters of the Atlantic on the other, making it a favorite spot for evening strolls, outdoor workouts, and community gatherings.
