Avenida 4 de Fevereiro is the most famous waterfront boulevard in Luanda. Locals usually call it the Marginal. The avenue stretches along Luanda Bay. Its name honors the February 4, 1961 uprising that sparked Angola’s independence struggle.

A major upgrade project expanded the area in 2012. This project created wide pedestrian paths, green parks, and scenic viewpoints. Today, tall corporate skyscrapers line one side while the Atlantic Ocean borders the other. Locals gather here daily for evening walks, outdoor workouts, and social events.
