  • Iron Palace (Stop at) Many believe Gustave Eiffel designed or inspired this building in 1880. Today, it is famous for its detailed ironwork. It also showcases amazing Angolan art.
  • Fortress of São Miguel (Stop at) Paulo Dias de Novais built this fortress in the 17th century. He was the first Portuguese governor of Luanda. Now, the site houses the National Museum of Military History. You can view historical tanks, weapons, and beautiful azulejos. These tiles depict Angola’s history, fauna, and flora.
  • 4th of February Avenue (Stop at) This is Luanda’s iconic waterfront promenade. It offers a beautiful bay-side walk with lush palm trees. Enjoy the modern skyscrapers and a refreshing ocean breeze.
  • Cidade Alta (Drive through) Next, we will drive through the prestigious “Upper City.” This area is home to the Presidential Palace and other important national institutions.
  • Mausoleum of Agostinho Neto (Stop at) This is the resting place of Angola’s first president. He proudly declared independence in 1975. Interestingly, the striking architecture was inspired by a spaceship.
  • Moon Viewpoint (Miradouro da Lua) (Stop at) Afterward, we will visit these unique cliffs and canyons. Centuries of erosion shaped this landscape. It closely resembles the moon, making it perfect for sunset photography.
  • Craft Market (Stop at) This vibrant market is great for buying authentic souvenirs. By visiting, you support local artists. You will also engage deeply with Angola’s cultural traditions.
  • Museum of Slavery (Stop at) This vital museum offers deep insight into the slave trade. Consequently, it promotes important reflection on racism and human rights.
  • Traditional Meal: Mufete During lunch, you will enjoy a delicious local dish. It features grilled fish and beans. Moreover, it is traditionally served with banana, sweet potato, cassava, and musseque flour.
